Scandal! Tragedy! Pirates! And Eric Places Third. Again.
XITOM RAISES THE BAR โ AND SAILS AWAY WITH THE TREASURE!
The dust has settled, the drinks have been poured!
The judges have finally recovered from what can only be described as an exhausting ordeal of having to look at an inconvenient number of excellent builds.
Yes, dear readers: Raise the Bar has officially concluded!
And what a competition it was.
From entire islands transformed into pirate realms to suspicious trapdoors leading to what we can only assume were perfectly innocent emergency exits โ every contestant brought something unique to the table.
The judging was reportedly brutal. Friendships may have been tested. Reputations were certainly made.
And when the scores were finally counted, one pirate stood triumphantly above the rest.
๐ FIRST PLACE: XiTom'S PIRATE ISLAND
Captain Xitom has plundered the competition and sailed home with a staggering 64 diamonds, 3 netherite ingots, and 2 LIGHT BLOCKS.
Yes. Two.
We all remember what happened when Morph got his hands on those mysterious little treasures. Now Xitom has two of his own. Should we be concerned? Probably. But that sounds like a problem for next week.
A Fairy Tale First: Shanbear Takes Third!
Tied for third is Rest for the Weary, the now-famed Fae League House of Respite constructed by Shanbear.
And dear readers, there is something particularly impressive about this placement: This was Shanbear's first building competition.
She simply arrived, built a magnificent house of respite, placed third, and presumably went home feeling rather pleased with herself. Some competitors spend months honing their craft. Others apparently just show up and start winning.
The Curse Continues
The other third-place winner? Oh, surely you already know. Lord Eric.
His Flamebrewer Tavern has earned him yet another third-place finish. At this point, calling it coincidence would simply be irresponsible journalism. The evidence is mounting: Lord Eric is cursed.
Competition after competition, build after build, the man claws his way onto the podium only to find himself staring once again at that familiar bronze-colored abyss.
Third. Always third. Forever third.
Will Lord Eric ever construct something worthy of second place? First? Is such a thing even possible? Has some malevolent force condemned him to wander eternally through the halls of history: Lord Eric, Duke of Third Place?
We cannot say. But we can keep bringing it up.
TRAGEDY IN THE SKIES
General Bok Lost! Goober Dead! And Two Nations Point the Finger!
Dear readers, we regret to report that the simmering conflict between High Roost and the Blue Sultanate has taken a devastating turn.
There has still been no formal clash between armies on the battlefield. But anyone believing that means this war has been bloodless should think again.
General Bok of High Roost is lost. And so is one of the oldest and most beloved creatures in MoleCraft history. Goober is dead.
What exactly happened in those fateful moments depends entirely upon whom you ask.
Reports indicate that General Bok had fallen into the hands of the Blue Sultanate in what High Roost alleges was an attempted kidnapping. The Blue Sultanate tells a rather different story.
According to their account, Sultanate forces were flying away aboard, when the Sultan grew tired of the pace and decided to walk. He was leading Goober with General Bok when disaster struck: The ghast caught fire.
High Roost maintains that General Bok was attempting a daring escape and that the resulting struggle led to the catastrophic incident. Whatever happened aboard that ghast, the result was the same.
General Bok was lost. And Goober fell.
But Goober was no ordinary ghast.
Who Was Goober?
Before there was a Blue Sultanate, before today's borders were drawn and today's grudges had even been conceived, there was Goober.
The venerable ghast transported livestock into the lands once known as the Gilded Southern Empire โ territory that would eventually fall into the hands of the Blue Sultanate. Those animals helped create the wealth the Sultanate enjoys today.
In other words, while politicians may argue over who built the Blue Sultanate... perhaps the answer was actually Goober.
Sources report that the ancient ghast's final words were:
"I love the Blue Sultanate, and I love Sonic."
A patriot. A hero. A Sonic enthusiast.
Basil is said to be understandably devastated by the loss of his longtime companion. Across MoleCraft, an era has ended. But grief may soon turn to something considerably more dangerous.
High Roost has promised retaliation.
Which leaves one rather uncomfortable question hanging over the entire affair. Was this really an accident? Or was it something else?
Could the Sultanate have deliberately eliminated General Bok? And if so, could Goober himself have been sacrificed to make the entire catastrophe appear to be High Roost's fault?
A beloved national icon dead. An enemy general eliminated. Public outrage conveniently inflamed. Surely no government would ever consider such a thing. Surely.
The Blue Sultanate maintains that the catastrophe was an accident. High Roost tells another story. And until further evidence emerges, dear reader, we leave the verdict to you.
GEESH OFFERS TO TEACH SULTANATE HOW TO FLY
Apparently news of the disaster has already reached the Free City of Geesh.
And Chairman Xi has responded with what may be either a generous diplomatic gesture or the most exquisitely timed insult in recent MoleCraft history.
Following Goober's fiery demise, Chairman Xi has reportedly offered the Blue Sultanate... Ghast piloting lessons. We are making no further comment. None is necessary.
Geesh is also reportedly offering war machines and training to anyone on the server willing to purchase them. With tensions already rising between High Roost and the Blue Sultanate, the sudden availability of military equipment certainly couldn't make the situation any worse. Right?
THE STALKER CRISIS IS OVER. Probably.
After weeks of terror, suspicious window-climbing, and widespread concern for MoleCraft's children, wives, husbands, livestock, and anyone else unfortunate enough to possess a window... MoleCraft is officially stalker-free.
Go fetch your kids. Go fetch your wives. Go fetch your husbands too.
You may even consider unlocking the windows.
Actually... No. Keep those locked. You never know.
MYSTERIOUS PvP COMPETITION RUMORED
Whispers are traveling across MoleCraft of a new competition. A PvP competition. Details remain scarce.
But our sources have confirmed one particularly fascinating detail: Apparently, the event is NOT being organized by the person who repeatedly claims to love PvP and be better at PvP than practically everyone else.
Curious. Very curious. One might reasonably ask: If you're such a PvP enthusiast... Where is your PvP competition? All talk? No action? A poser, perhaps?
THE ECONOMY: WOOD EXISTS!
Extraordinary scenes have been reported from the shopping district. THE WOOD SHOP IS STOCKED.
Yes, you read that correctly. Wood. In the wood shop. Available for purchase. Experienced MoleCraft residents understand the rarity of this celestial alignment, so interested customers are advised to purchase before nature inevitably restores order.
Black Market Booms
Crime? Commerce? Why choose? Deep beneath the respectable economy of MoleCraft, another marketplace continues to thrive. The Black Market is growing.
Entrepreneurial readers with their own unusual talents may want to consider setting up shop themselves. After all, dear readers: Someone's questionable moral decision is someone else's business opportunity.
WHERE WILL SPAWN GO?
The future center of MoleCraft could be your choice โ but only if someone remembers to nominate it. Players have until September 4th to submit locations for the new spawn.
Until next time, MoleCraft:
Lock your windows, watch the skies, and never trust a conveniently placed trapdoor.
